Within education today, there are two prevailing thoughts when considering the best approach for educating children.  Those positions are taken on one side by the teachers and on the other side by the parents.  From the teacher’s standpoint, they believe that their level of expertise places them in the position of knowing what is best for the student.  On the other hand, parents increasingly demand a greater say in deciding what curriculum is deemed worthy of being presented to their children.

From the outset “Home Style Teaching” advocates cooperation between teacher, parent and student alike.  In the sections contained in “Home Style Teaching” you will find solutions to issues such as ‘Becoming a Good Teacher’ or ‘Some Teaching Secrets Not Commonly Practiced’.  You will gain invaluable insight from “Home Style Teaching” while exploring issues like ‘What We Mean by Curriculum’ and ‘How Children Develop’.  In the appendix, you will find the names of well-known individuals that were educated at home; this should encourage you that homeschooling can be done right and successfully.

Throughout “Home Style Teaching” the authors advocate homeschooling without giving the impression it should be mandated for all.  As a result, it can be read simply from the standpoint that learning is the objective for the child’s education, whether it be received in the public, private or home school environment.

Raymond and Dorothy Moore have placed between the pages of “Home Style Teaching” documentation that will unite both parent and teacher to find that common ground; to agree that all they both really desire is that the child receive the best form of education, with the result being them succeeding in the world as productive members of society.
